Sri
Vanechand Javarilal, an able and enterprising
businessman from North India, who had trade
links with the British Army, migrated to South
India in the later half of 18th Century,
and settled in Bangalore. It was the beginning
of a new era and other North Indian businessmen
followed suit. In 1819, Late Sri Dhagdu Rishi,
a Jain Saint, along with some other Jain Saints
visited Bangalore. Late Sri Amolak Rishi played
a pivotal role in initiating the people to widen
their outlook and knowledge. His efforts proved
to be a landmark in propagating education
among the Jain community of South India and the
people of Bangalore at large.
Inspired by the sound advice of Jain Saint, Karnatak
Kesari Sri Guru Ganeshlalji, Mis Shambumal Gangaram
of Bangalore strived hard to accomplish the
task of establishing a Jain Vidyalaya. But all
these efforts proved to be unsuccessful owing
to disturbances of the Second World War. There
was a decline in the number of students strength,
resulting in the closure of Jain Vidyalaya in
1942.
